Introduction
Despite appearances, the HoneyLoaf is not a breadboard power supply. Although it does connect your circuits to power, it accomplishes a lot more than a simple power connection.
The HoneyLoaf is your breadboard connection to the HiveR BUZZ system of Pro Audio FX Creation.
With the HoneyLoaf you can design your circuits with your choice of power rails, easy access audio connections, and digital and audio ground separation. That’s a lot, but there is more.
With the HoneyLoaf connector you can easily reuse your breadboard creations from project to project without rebuilding them. Once a circuit works, why rebuild it? Re-using saves you time and frustration.
Power Connection
The HiveR HoneyLoaf is the breadboard adapter you didn’t realize you needed.
How can it make your life more enjoyable? How about flexible, selectable voltage rails? When paired with the HiveR Queen Bee you can easily send 5v, 9v, 12v, -5v, -9v, -12v, 15v-20v, and/or your choice of analog or digital ground right to the power rails of your breadboard just by plugging it in.
Depending on the type of breadboard you are using, you can have up to two voltages supplied to the breadboard in addition to having audio and digital ground. It is also possible to use jumper wires for more voltage selections as well as utilizing voltage differences for even more variations.
Selecting a voltage to be sent to the power rails is as easy as setting a header jumper.
Each power rail is turned off and on by a slide switch, and onboard LEDs indicate when the power is active. A potentiometer lets you be in control of LED brightness. You can always know when power is live, and shutting it down is right at your fingertips.
Audio Section/ Troubleshooting Features
Another great benefit of the HoneyLoaf is the simple routing of audio input and output signals. Included in the audio line is an audio bypass that lets you test the audio connection and an audio test loop that makes it easier to troubleshoot malfunctioning circuits.
The audio bypass can be used to bypass your audio FX circuit in the case that you aren’t hearing a signal. If you can hear the bypassed version then you know it’s in the circuit and there’s no other wiring problem.
The audio test loop lets you hook up a test probe so that you can probe your circuit and figure out where signal loss is occurring. The ability to quickly and easily test each section of the circuit is of great importance when things aren’t working as expected.
HoneyLoaf- HiveR BUZZ
One of the best benefits to using the HoneyLoaf is your ability to move it easily from breadboard to breadboard. This allows you to build a circuit and leave it built for later. You can easily tell where you need to plug in the HoneyLoaf to resume building with that circuit even months down the road.
If you like to bread board you’ll want a few HoneyLoafs. Another of the biggest benefits of this board is that you can keep your circuits simple by connecting them in stages. Rather than building a breadboard with three transistor, two opamp, and an EQ stage you can build each individual stage or combine just a couple of stages to each breadboard. By keeping the circuits simpler it makes complex builds easier to achieve.
Flexibility
The HoneyLoaf pcb is designed in a way that lets you build it for breadboards with double rails on each side or single rails on each side.
It is fully compatible with the HiveR BUZZ system.
